Homeworking in the EU
The increased use of homeworking due to the coronavirus is not taken into account when determining the applicable social security law in the European Union. This period was neutralised from 13 March 2020 up to and including 30 June 2022.
From 1st July, there will be an exceptional transition period with the same effect. The initial end date of December 31, 2022 has been extended to June 30, 2023. It only applies to self-employed workers who work from home in their state of residence for their client based in another EU Member state. This transition period applies to both existing and new homework activities. There are no specific formalities required.
